Certainly his effort to kill the gay marriage bill, just one vote away from passing in Albany, shows a lot of gall.

The archbishop has been ferocious in fighting against marriage between same-sex couples, painting it as a perversity against nature.

If only his church had been as ferocious in fighting against the true perversity against nature: the unending horror of pedophile priests and the children who trusted them.

There were one million people who went to watch the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton, 1 million people who took to the streets of Boston to celebrate the Bruins Stanley Cup victory, so what if 1 million went to John Paul II’s beatification in Rome? 1 million is now the norm of the day, it isn’t extraordinary but the ordinary number of today’s spectacles whether it be a U2 concert or Obama in his inaugural speech in Washington DC or otherwise. The Pope and the Vatican and its Vatican Pied Pipers are using the same publicity stunts of Harry Potter and all Hollywood productions to keep Catholicism on its “staying power over the centuries”. Therefore their strategy is the same as in the Medieval Ages, the Pope and the Vatican and its Vatican Pied Pipers must not tolerate any “freedom of speech”; but unfortunately for them, “freedom of speech” is integral in our Charter of Rights and our Constitution, and so they condemn everyone as “bigots” and silence the little boy who exclaimed “The Emperor has no clothes”. It is time that the Catholic Church and the Vatican lose their status in the Untied Nations because the Vatican’s autocracy (and sacraments and condemnations) contradict every fibre of the Constitution of the United States and the United Nations. There is also a lawsuit against Benedict XVI for violating the Charter of Rights of Children on his visit to the New York submitted by SNAP to the United Nations.

George Weigel also said in his article that “the Catholic Church in America today is quite likely the country’s safest environment for children and young people. The Church has cleaned its house” and one of the comments he got was right-on, “George Weigel, You've lost your mind”.

Keep on writing, Maureen Dowd, and do not be intimidated by those misogynist Catholic Pied Pipers such as George Weigel and Bill Donohue. God bless the New York Times and may God the He⁄SHE hasten the total demise of the Vatican Temple as predicted by the Third Secret of Fatima.

Bankruptcy judge in Milwaukee blasts former archbishop Timothy Dolan’s program for sex abuse victims

On Wednesday, Judge Susan Kelly told attorneys from the Milwaukee archdiocese that the church’s so-called victim “mediation” program established by archbishop Timothy Dolan in 2004 to address child sexual abuse by priests was “completely inept” and “not at all what had been described to her” by archdiocesan officials. The archdiocese was asking Kelly to allow the program to continue while they seek bankruptcy protection from the federal court.

Dolan testified before state lawmakers before leaving Wisconsin in 2009 to become the archbishop of New York that his mediation program, which had never been reviewed by outside investigators, rendered changes in the Wisconsin sex abuse statutes under the proposed Child Victims Act, and other institutional reforms, completely unnecessary. Under Wisconsin law, until recently, any civil claim against abusive clergy and their bishops have been barred due to a set of controversial state supreme court decision in the mid 1990’s, which ruled any such case filed against clergy violated the 1st amendment of the US constitution. Wisconsin is the only state with such a provision.

Shielded by these rulings, Dolan and his attorneys devised the mediation program criticized by Kelly today, where victims received a nominal financial settlement in exchange for signing a release and dropping any chance, no matter how remote, of legally obtaining information, records, and testimony concerning the clergy who sexually assaulted them as children or what church officials knew about the abuse.

New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd is a nominal Catholic. She doesn’t believe at all in the church’s teaching that homosexuality is a sin. When Timothy Dolan, the Archbishop of New York, opposes “gay marriage” in New York, the best Dowd could do in her Saturday column was call him the “Starchbishop” and drag out (repeatedly) the sexual abuse scandal of the 1960s and 1970s. If this kind of knee-jerk thinking is annoying at the dinner table, who'd enjoy it in the newspaper?

Archbishop Dolan was born in 1950. Maureen Dowd was born in 1952. Can Dowd really blame Dolan for something that she was “equally” as responsible for in the Catholic church of their childhood? Dolan didn't become a priest until 1976 and didn't get a bishop's responsiblities until 2002. But Dowd is offended that the prelate would dare intervene or speak out on a matter of sexuality:
