Benedict XVI blames "mystery" for JP2 Army -John Paul II Pedophile Priests Army in Ireland's Eucharistic Congress. The sorcery of the re-incarnation of God-Jesus Christ by wizards-male-only reiterated in Ireland

Updated June 19, 2012

Catholics have a short memory of papal sins that is why they are like docile lambs ready to worship the biggest Opus Dei Golden Cow Blessed John Paul II.   Have Catholics forgotten the past when it was a "mortal sin" to miss every Sunday Mass, 52 weeks a year, and the person would go directly to Hell if he died and failed to confess that he missed Sunday Mass to a priest?  Then there were so many Days of Obligation to attend Mass or one goes to Hell for failing to attend them.  And now it is down to a bare minimum like Christmas, New Year's and the Immaculate Conception or what not.  In the past, when someone had an accident, Catholics carried a small card that said "Call a priest" (for the last rites).  Today when someone has an accident, it is rather "Call 9-11".

The greatest mystery in the Catholic faith is not the Devil or the Mysteries of the Rosary but rather the speedy beatification of Heil Satanas JP2! Patron Saint of Pedophiles, Pederasts Rapists-Priests! John Paul II is the same yesterday and today-- he cannot protect children Benedict XVI the Master Manipulator of the Media is the greatest Vatican Pied Piper as he sends his misleading message to the Eucharistic Congress in Ireland that he simply blames it on (drums roll) "mystery" - for the existence the JP2 Army - John Paul II Pedophile Priests Army - what he and Opus Dei Golden Cow John Paul II, together as the pair of hands that steered the Vatican Titanic - both covered-up for over 27 years in the longest reigning papacy.  He calls the motive of clergy sexual abuse as “mystery”, what?  Hell no, the motive was and is always the Vatican Mammon, the Vatican Billions, the preservation of the Sorcery of the Eucharist in order to use  men-only-Sorcery to control world monetary funds by using God’s name in vain in the pretext of Christ asking Peter to “Feed My Sheep”, but in reality the Pope is sucking out food/money out from the sheep, read about the Vatican Billions and the sale of the Prime Meat of Christ in the Eucharist here

Where was "Feed My Sheep" and where was "Holy Father" when Benedict XVI couldn't even offer a cheap botle of water to Italian victims of the JP2 Army who WALKED across Italy, 350 miles,  to the doorstep of the wealthy Vatican Bank Tower, and as "Holy Father" he couldn't bother to peep from his wealthy Vatican apartments and see how these poor victims looked liked, that's because the persons he will care to see are wealthy European royalties or wealthy Vatican Bank investors, read about it here  Read why Cardinal Ratzinger silenced Liberation Theology priests in order to prevent the poor from waking up and rising up against their despots who are Vatican Bank investors, read it here Hypocrite Benedict silenced Fr. Tony Flannery, Brian D'Arcy – A compilation… but he does not silence Cardinal Bernard Law and JP2 Army – John Paul II Pedophile Priests

In the Year for Priests, Benedict XVI blamed "the Devil" for priest pedophilia, and now he is blaming "mystery", when the fact is the two persons to blame are himself as Cardinal Ratzinger and Pope John Paul II, read Eve and Benedict XVI blame the Devil. Analysis of Pope’s homily in Year for Priests -sorcerers of Christ’s flesh and blood  And now, in Ireland, he is blaming it on "mystery", and people are buying into his pathological papal lies, as always in the history of Christendom, the Popes lie over and over and people believe them because of their supernatural power of the Sorcery of the Eucahrist - see news updates below.  Benedict XVI should really go face trial at The Hague for his crimes against humanity because that is the only justice for the tens of thousands of children who were abused by the JP2 Army.  The biggest Catholic “mystery” is why John Paul II had two (2) evil Achilles Heels as Pope when he elevated criminal Cardinal Bernard Law into Rome and why he so loved criminal Fr. Marcial Maciel, read our related article here John Paul smelled Devil`s Bowels as roses for 27 years as he deified Father Marcial Maciel and deified Cardinal Bernard Law

Quebec Cardinal Marc Ouellet, the Papal Legate told the capacity congregation that the Lord heals the Church's wounds.  If the Lord heals the Church wounds, then he can also heal all other victims wounds, then our jails would all be empty, read our related article, Spiritual healing, the Eucharist and the Rosary bring NEITHER JUSTICE NOR SAFETY FOR CHILDREN, the preys of the John Paul II Pedophile Priests Army

The Pope said in his message: "How are we to explain the fact that people who regularly received the Lord's body and confessed their sins in the sacrament of penance have offended in this way?"  The answer is clear:
Sacrament of Penance or Forgiveness’ is a tool of INJUSTICE to victims of the John Paul II Pedophile Priests Army

Ironically, the Eucharist is the Source of Evil Power hence the Seat of Evil of the Pope and the Vatican -- read our related article The Nazis of Hitler and the Roman Catholic Church of Benedict XVI are similar: They both burn human beings in Auschwitz and in Hell

The largest Catholic gathering to reiterate the unique sorcery of the re-incarnation of the flesh and body of Christ in the Mass by witches or rather wizard-men only (who cannot reincarnate dead cats and dead dogs), the 50th Eucharistic Congress in Dublin, Ireland, will be officiated by Quebec Cardinal Marc Ouellet, representing Pope Benedict XVI, at the opening Mass of 50th International Eucharistic Congress on Sunday, June 10 with male-only 230 cardinals and bishops, 12,000 priests will join in the opening celebration, which be attended by 25,000 Catholics, including 7,000 pilgrims from 120 countries (100 are from New York with Cardinal Dolan,  read our article Cardinal Dolan is not the Prince of New York…All roads no longer lead to Rome    Mankind’s need for the divine and the supernatural is innate which explains the immediate and billions of dollars success of new wizards like Harry Potter and the Twilight Saga series and their movie stars have catapulted to international fame and captivated millions of followers.  The deification of the flour-Host in the Mass by Catholics or the deifications of cows in India by Hindus, or of other religions, show that mankind will go to any fanatic measures to deify men-only and glorify these same male-only hierarchies to suppress women and children who have no rights at all – except “Pray, Pay, Obey” these deified males and – obey blindly in these religions’ rituals.

It took thousands of years for God to prepare the Virgin Mary to carry in her womb his Son Jesus and if he is an all-wise God, he will not allow lustful sinners-priests and the cirminal-Pope Benedict XVI to touch his Son and be reincarnated in the Mass.

The Sorcery of the Eucharist

The Magisterium is the Garden of Eden re-enacted daily by the Pope and priests obeying the Pride-Serpent (who promises them that they are “like God”) and acting that they are indeed powerful “like God” because they can transform and eat God-in-the-Eucharist. The Mass or Eucharist is the modern fruit of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil.

Actually the Magisterium a.k.a the Vatican, a.k.a Roman Catholic Church is worse than the Garden of Eden because it claims to reproduce God’s flesh everyday. At least in Eden, the Pride-Serpent did not promise Adam and Eve the capability to create anything especially not to reincarnate God’s flesh. He said that the two of them would only become “similar” to God who knows all knowledge. Satan never said they would be able to “create” God. In this aspect, Satan is more humble than John Paul II, Benedict XVI, the Magisterium or the Vatican and men-priests who claim that through their words at the “transubstantiation” of the Eucharist they actually reproduce God-the-son Jesus Christ’s flesh and blood. Satan knew he was a creature-below-God while John Paul II, Benedict XVI and priests are creatures-above-God because they can “create God’s flesh” in the Mass.

9-Months fetal development from

In the name of Hail Mary, we dare challenge and defy the Magisterium: No words pronounced by any finite-man can create an infinite-God! No words of the Pope and priests can re-create or re-incarnate Christ’s flesh. The words of sinful popes and priests are powerless and can never create God! Only Mary the Immaculate Conception deserved to bear God in her womb. No evil pope and evil priests is worthy to touch and hold God in their evil hands. The words of popes and Cardinals, Bishops and priests are mere clashing-cymbals of St. Paul see John Paul II the Great clashing cymbal of St. Paul See Benedict XVI to beatify John Paul II is “brought to nothing” by St. Paul

No matter how we look at it, finite-man cannot create an infinite-God. Man can never create God’s flesh. Not in in-vitro fertilization of the scientific laboratories. Not in the sacred altars of holy Roman Catholic churches which by the way were the same pedophile altars of the John Paul II Pedophile Priests Army See the John Paul II Millstone

Rome, call us heretics and we don’t care because in Boston and in America, we have freedom of speech. It was our freedom of speech that got rid of criminal-Cardinal Bernard Law and sent him packing out of our sight and out of our land. But only you, Rome, you the Roman Catholic Church a.k.a. Magisterium would glorify criminals like Cardinal Bernard Law and John Paul II. No other American state has been able to replicate our courage as Bostonians who got rid of the first Cardinal caught guilty of the John Paul II Pedophile Priests Army in America. Yes, we caught the first SS officer of the Third Reich of the Roman Catholic Church … but he went into glorious exile in Rome because only in the Catholic Church are criminals glorified See The John Paul II Millstone John Paul II Pedophile Priests Army expands into Ireland &John Paul is elevated as "Venerable"... only in the Catholic Church are criminals glorified

The Magisterium also known as the Vatican and/or the Pope

Lord Asriel in the Golden Compass said: “The Magisterium’s days are numbered”. We strongly recommend this movie because the victims are poor children and the Magisterium are the bad guys. (No wonder the Vatican condemned the movie).

Well Vatican, your Magisterial days are indeed numbered as predicted in the Third Secret of Fatima; that is why you do not wish to reveal its original text to the world.

The Magisterium a.k.a the Vatican, the Pope and men-priests are the greatest magicians of all time. The Mass is the biggest magic of all times because it claims to create God’s flesh. For centuries, all popes, all Cardinals and bishops, all priests claim to have “divine” powers during the Mass, through the formula of the “transubstantiation”. But the human fact is, they have absolutely no power whatsoever to reincarnate Christ in the Eucharist. They cannot even reincarnate a dead dog, a dead cat or a dead fish…how much more the Crucified Christ.

Benedict XVI and all priests cannot even create a simple matter such as light, how on earth can they create the Almighty God the Creator of the entire Universe? see

No matter how theological they word it, holy “transubstantiation” hocus-pocus will not do it. God will not defy his own creation. God is not at the mercy of man’s words, especially sinful men like the pope and priests who have no compunction for the John Paul II pedophile Priests Army.

Having a quantity of theological knowledge does not make one a Superman capable to create God’s flesh.

God will not contradict Mary’s Immaculate Conception. God prepared Mary since the beginning of time to carry Jesus into fruition in her womb. There is no way he would allow sinful men to out-power Mary and allow them to play god and reincarnate God instantly in the Mass.

The Roman Catholic Church has done a lot of good and produced a lot of good missionaries like the Jesuits’ Matteo Ricci in China and Mother Teresa of Calcutta but as the One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church she has also produced the most evil priests like the John Paul II Pedophile Priests Army against humanity’s children. See Biggest Vatican stories of the decade: John Paul II Pedophile Priests Army committed Holy ES Eucharist-and-Sodomy of Biblical proportions

Throughout the centuries, history has recorded the evils the Vatican and Popes have done such as the Roman Catholic Crusades to Jerusalem, the Inquisition and the burning of innocent witches; the Roman Catholic Church has been also one of the most evil institutions on the planet. See how the Popes and the Vatican punished witches

The evil that the Roman Catholic Church has produce in each century proves that the Mass does not truly re-incarnate Christ’s flesh and blood. A Good God will never allow himself to coexist in priestly Evil hands daily.

The worst achievement in modern times of the Roman Catholic Church via the Mass is the John Paul II Pedophile Priests Army. John Paul II wrote his famous encyclical THE EUCHARIST: SOURCE AND SUMMIT OF THE LIFE AND MISSION OF THE CHURCH but at the same time led his John Paul II Pedophile Priests Army for 26 glorious years, all controlled, and produced by the one and only Opus Dei

History of Transubstantiation

Our comment: Transubstantiation or the Mass is a recent development (as this brief history below recounts). St. Peter and St. Paul and the Apostles never celebrated Mass and never “transubstantiated” the bread into the flesh of Christ, what they did was to preach about Christ. The Mass was a slow development from the 12th century through various liturgical reforms until the 20th century. It was only in 1215 at the Fourth Council of the Lateran that the Mass began to take form and in 1551 at the Council of Trent that transubstantiation became what it is today. The Vatican has come to use it as its main crux of power on earth deceiving Catholics and peoples of all faiths that only Popes and men-priests have the exclusive power to transubstantiate God’s flesh. Because of the Mass, the Vatican has gotten away with all kinds of heinous crimes, e.g. the Crusades, the Inquisition, the burning of women and witches “For the sake of the Eucharist” and because of the shortage of priests, John Paul II, Cardinal Ratzinger-Benedict XVI, the Opus Dei who controls the Vatican, the Cardinals and Bishops shuffled pedophile priests from one parish to another. The rest is history: the John Paul II Pedophile Priests Army committed Holy ES Eucharist-and-Sodomy of Biblical proportions see the John Paul II Millstone

The history of Transubstantiation: In Roman Catholic theology, "transubstantiation" (in Latin, transsubstantiatio, in Greek μετουσίωσις (metousiosis)) means the change of the substance of bread and wine into the Body and Blood of Christ in the Eucharist, while all that is accessible to the senses (accidents) remains as before.[1][2]

Some Greek confessions use the term "transubstantiation" (in Greek, metousiosis), but most Orthodox Christian traditions play down the term itself, and the notions of "substance" and "accidents", while adhering to the holy mystery that bread and wine become the body and blood of Christ. Other terms such as "trans-elementation" ("metastoicheiosis") and "re-ordination" ("metarrhythmisis") are more common among the Orthodox.

The earliest known use of the term "transubstantiation" to describe the change from bread and wine to body and blood of Christ was by Hildebert de Lavardin, Archbishop of Tours (died 1133), in the eleventh century and by the end of the twelfth century the term was in widespread use.[3] In 1215, the Fourth Council of the Lateran spoke of the bread and wine as "transubstantiated" into the body and blood of Christ: "His body and blood are truly contained in the sacrament of the altar under the forms of bread and wine, the bread and wine having been transubstantiated, by God's power, into his body and blood."[1]

During the Protestant Reformation, the doctrine of transubstantiation was heavily criticised as an import into Christian teaching of Aristotlean "pseudo-philosophy"[4], in favour of the doctrine of consubstantiation, Martin Luther's sacramental union, or in favour, per Huldrych Zwingli, of the Eucharist as memorial[5].

The Council of Trent in its thirteenth session ending October 11, 1551, defined transubstantiation as "that wonderful and singular conversion of the whole substance of the bread into the Body, and of the whole substance of the wine into the Blood – the species only of the bread and wine remaining – which conversion indeed the Catholic Church most aptly calls Transubstantiation".[6]

This council thus officially approved use of the term "transubstantiation" to express the Catholic Church's teaching on the subject of the conversion of the bread and wine into the body and blood of Christ in the Eucharist,[7] with the aim of safeguarding Christ's presence as a literal truth, while emphasizing the fact that there is no change in the empirical appearances of the bread and wine.[8] But it did not impose the Aristotelian theory of substance and accidents: it spoke only of the "species" (the appearances), not the philosophical term "accidents", and the word "substance" was in ecclesiastical use for many centuries before Aristotelian philosophy was adopted in the West,[9] as shown for instance by its use in the Nicene Creed which speaks of Christ having the same "οὐσία" (Greek) or "substantia" (Latin) as the Father. Protestant Reformation (Criticism of Transubstantiation)

Title page of Martin Luther's De Captivitate Babylonica Ecclesiae

In the Protestant Reformation, the doctrine of transubstantiation became a matter of much controversy. Luther held that "It is not the doctrine of transubstantiation which is to be believed, but simply that Christ really is present at the eucharist".[40] In his "On the Babylonian Captivity of the Church" (published on 6 October 1520) Martin Luther wrote:

Therefore it is an absurd and unheard-of juggling with words, to understand "bread" to mean "the form, or accidents of bread," and "wine" to mean "the form, or accidents of wine." Why do they not also understand all other things to mean their forms, or accidents? Even if this might be done with all other things, it would yet not be right thus to emasculate the words of God and arbitrarily to empty them of their meaning.

Moreover, the Church had the true faith for more than twelve hundred years, during which time the holy Fathers never once mentioned this transubstantiation — certainly, a monstrous word for a monstrous idea — until the pseudo-philosophy of Aristotle became rampant in the Church these last three hundred years. During these centuries many other things have been wrongly defined, for example, that the Divine essence neither is begotten nor begets, that the soul is the substantial form of the human body, and the like assertions, which are made without reason or sense, as the Cardinal of Cambray himself admits.[41]

Jon Sobrino describes John Paul II's manipulation of the poor of South America. In El Salvador, John Paul II suppressed the poor Crucified Peoples and the Jesuits Martyrs who were working for social justice - whose anniversary is November 16.

Below is an excerpt from Jon Sobrino's book that speaks of John Paul II's un-realistic papal attitudes and ignorant perception towards the poor. These are the paragraphs that made Benedict XVI issued the "Notification" and the Opus Dei Bishop of El Salvador "silence" Sobrino, meaning he can no longer teach or preach and help the poor to whom he has given all his life in service.

Witnesses to the Kingdom: The Martyrs of El Salvador and the Crucified PeoplesPage 141. Important ecclesial events, like a papal visit, are often organized in such a way that they too produce a feeling of unreality. In the Pope’s 1996 visit to El Salvador, it is true that most of the people who attended were poor. But all one could see of their reality was their religious enthusiasm, more or less effectively organized. One didn’t see their poverty, their fears, their discouragement and helplessness, not even their true faith and hope; one didn’t see their reality. As the event was organized, the poor served more as a backdrop than as the reality of the country; in the foreground were minorities that do not represent the reality: the government, legislators and politicians, the rich and powerful, and the Church beside them. The Pope’s visit neither reflected reality nor, to judge from the consequences, had any important effect on it.

On page 140. This applies to the allocutions and homilies of the Pope to the Congregation when he was an "adult-pope’. And that is still a serious problem: humanistas without sarx, factuality without reality (in the world of the poor). To give a few examples: one often gets a feeling of unreality from homilies, documents and messages that do not make central - although they may mention it - the poverty of reality, the injustice and corruption that cause it, and the cover-up that accompanies it. The feeling of unreality comes especially from the lack of commitment to get involved in the conflict, to struggle against injustice and to suffer the consequences. Words, words, words, as J. Comblin calls such messages in the article mentioned above. At another level, one gets the same feeling of unreality from a seminary formation that protects the seminarian from reality; or from the spiritualities and pastoral practices promoted or tolerated by movements that lead the human being into an a-historical transcendence with infantilizing consequences. Opposition grows to beatification of John Paul II

The Guadalajara Report

Pope John Paul II was a popular figure in Mexico and local Catholic Church leaders have lauded current Pope Benedict XVI’s decision to beatify him on May 1. But not everyone is happy. The Mexican-run group Observatorio Eclesial (Ecclesiastic Observatory) is mounting a worldwide campaign against the decision, entitled “A call to clarity.”

Pope John Paul II’s close relationship with Marcial Maciel (right), the disgraced founder of the Legionaries of Christ, is sufficient for him not be beatified, some Catholics argue.

Pope John Paul II’s close relationship with Marcial Maciel (right), the disgraced founder of the Legionaries of Christ, is sufficient for him not be beatified, some Catholics argue.

The group alleges that Pope John Paul II failed to recognize and possibly even covered up abuses that the founder and leader of the Legionaries of Christ in Mexico, Marcial Maciel, carried out during his tenure. Maciel is accused of abusing numerous young boys over a period stretching from the 1950s until the 1990s, fathering children and of consecrating 900 women as nuns, without the Vatican’s knowledge.

John Paul was said to be close to Maciel and encouraged him in expanding the Legionaries of Christ. The Ecclesiastic Observatory is hoping to get “contrary testimonies” to the beatification of Polish Pope John Paul II.

The other major point of contention the group has to the Pope’s beatification is his flat-out rejection of Liberation Theology, postulated by priests such as Ernesto Cardenal in Central America.

Cardenal this week criticized the beatification and accused John Paul II of “protecting” people accused of pedophilia.

Essay: Power of the dying hierarchy is an illusion
Jun. 08, 2012
By Joe Orso

A woman joins a vigil in support of U.S. Catholic sisters on May 22 outside the headquarters of the U.S. bishops’ conference in Washington. (Ted Majdosz)

The Eucharist will live only if we find a way for it to live outside the Mass. I heard this from a Catholic sister last year, who was quoting a lay parish worker.

Another sister told me this about a decade ago: The hierarchy is like a dying dragon, breathing fire on those around it as it flails through its final collapse. But don’t worry, she said, it is dying and someday something else will resurrect.

I believe both of those statements, I love both of those sisters, and the recent news about the Vatican’s actions toward the Leadership Conference of Women Religious does not stir anger in me one bit.
I am not shocked by the Vatican’s bad manners in handling the incident, nor by the hypocrisy of these so recently scandalized Catholic authorities attacking some of the most admired members of our Catholic family. At this point I, like many, expect such behavior.

Even more than a dragon, the church hierarchy looks to me like a senile old man, babbling, impotent and chastising anyone within earshot. What I struggle to understand is why anyone with a congruent perspective still listens to the old man. Why do thinking Catholics become outraged by the absurd actions of a hierarchy that holds little moral or practical authority in the world?

We live in a unique historical moment in which the ecological balance of the planet is endangered. Biodiversity is dwindling. The waters are sick. Cultures are increasingly homogenized. As our planetary community experiences trauma, our human-made systems persist in endangering the lives of our descendants. Many are waking up to this state of affairs, and across the Earth revolutions are challenging destructive power structures.

Meanwhile the Catholic community, too often lost in an abyss of irrelevance, argues about the language of the Mass, radical feminism and other obsessions of the Vatican. The Vatican has already forfeited most of its relevance in the larger world; in responding with anger, shock or moral platitudes about the injustice of Rome’s actions, we Catholics also sacrifice some of our own relevance in that world.

As a body of people, we reveal ourselves to be sorrowfully distracted. The hierarchy wastes its energy trying to rein in American prophets and elevate a top-down spiritual path. The people in the pews follow their lead, either reconciling their lives with the strange demands of the robed men or else simmering with frustration over how absurd those demands are. Either way, it’s all a waste, all a distraction, and Catholicism’s irrelevance grows.

This, at least, is how it looks to me -- not a theologian, leader or representative of anyone, but simply a 31-year-old American who loves the Catholic community and tradition, though connects with its formal expressions less and less.

To many, I would not be considered Catholic, primarily because I have shed the institutional Mass as a weekly practice. I’m certainly not Catholic in the way elder generations have been, nor in the way my more conservative young friends are. But I still experience a deep inner bond with Catholicism, I draw on the community and tradition in my prayer life, and I identify as Catholic.

As an adult, my strongest experience of Catholicism has been with the good sisters and those who gather around them. I believe the sisters have as much to offer us non-churchgoers -- both Catholic and non-Catholic -- as they do to offer churchgoers. If my wife and I have children, we will be intentional about fostering relationships between them and the sisters we know.

My experience of Catholicism, then, is relational; the institutional dimension of the church, represented by the hierarchy of priests, fades more and more from my experience. From where I stand, it is clear to me that if Catholicism is to thrive as a cultural force beyond its own echo chamber, at least some Catholics must not only realize that the hierarchy is a fading ghost, but live in a way that responds to this reality. For example, instead of venting our frustration to each other about the Vatican’s actions or the ultraconservative pastor who has hijacked our parish, we need to realize these men have no power over us, individually or communally, and to respond from that freedom, creating new forms of relationship and religious practice not dependent on the pastors.

Emily Jendzejec and Geoff Gusoff participate in a vigil to support women religious on May 8 outside the Cathedral of the Holy Cross in Boston. In short, we must find ways for the Eucharist to exist outside the Mass.

Vine Deloria Jr., the late Native American scholar, wrote that “institutions and beliefs are rapidly eroding” in our world and “the religions that depend on the articulation of doctrinal propositions to maintain themselves are doomed to disappear beneath their own silliness. Those religious traditions that depend primarily upon invoking some kind of experience that is qualitatively distinct from everyday feelings will become the vehicles for religious expression in the future.”

In these words, I believe, you have a hint as to where Catholicism could shift if Catholics choose. The religious communities of sisters would be natural leaders in this.

Those, like me, who love the sisters know that their charisms -- their spiritual energies in our lives and the life of the Earth community -- will persist, transform, perhaps die and resurrect but certainly continue far into the future, as long as humans exist. What we encounter in them as individual women and as religious communities shows us their spirit is authentic. They lead us into the profound realms of experience, and we know that no matter what the Vatican does, it cannot force its kind of religious expression onto the sisters or us, their supporters.

The hierarchy, on the other hand, is indeed disappearing beneath its own silliness. The Vatican makes ridiculous power plays, and those priests and bishops who see this are largely silent. Perhaps these men will one day undergo a conversion and come back to the large family of Catholics. In a people inspired by a Resurrection, we shouldn’t lose hope for that.

But for now, we laypeople’s relationships with the sisters need not be negatively impacted by the sisters’ relationship with the Vatican. We can simply live our lives and allow the Vatican to keep fading, and perhaps at times help it with the process. The sisters’ leadership obviously will have to respond to the silliness, and we can express our solidarity with them. But outrage at the Vatican can be counterproductive. If anything, we ought to feel pity for these aging men -- not abandon them, but also not let their sickly hearts fill our own with bitterness.

Their power is an illusion. They are dying. And we, to the degree that we can feel our freedom and act on it, will rise.

The International Eucharistic Congress opens in Dublin

Archbishop Diarmuid Martin hopes it will promote ‘reconciliation’ and encourage ‘renewal’ in the Catholic Church in this island that has suffered greatly from the sexual-abuse of children by priests’ scandal
Gerard O’ConnellRome
Cardinal Marc Ouellet, representing Pope Benedict XVI, will preside at the opening Mass of 50th International Eucharistic Congress in Dublin, on Sunday, June 10.  Some 230 cardinals and bishops together with 12,000 priests will join in the opening celebration that will be attended by some 25,000 Catholics including over 7,000 pilgrims from 120 countries. The event will be broadcast on national TV and be given wide media coverage. Pope Benedict has recorded a message for the occasion.
The week-long ceremony will focus on the theme of “Communion” - a central concept of the Second Vatican Council, in 160 workshops, talks, discussions, group reflections.  It will showcase Irish spirituality and culture in over 100 stands, and celebrate it with a rich contribution of Irish song and music.

It is only the second time the Congress is being held in Ireland and, significantly, each time it has taken place after an event that has shook the country.  The first one was held in 1932, also in Dublin, not long after the end of a bitter civil war that divided the country and families.  This time too it comes after another bitter event: - more than two decades of revelations of the terrible abuse of children by clergy and religious men and women that shocked the nation and brought the Catholic Church and its leadership to its knees .
Archbishop Diarmuid Martin, who has given courageous leadership in dealing with this scandal, is hosting the Congress. He said he hopes that, like its 1932 predecessor, it too will contribute to promoting “reconciliation” within the Catholic Church and people in this green island, and foster a much needed “renewal” of the Church in this land once known as “the island of saints and scholars”.
On the eve of the Congress, Archbishop Martin took a step in the direction of renewal by ordaining the country’s first permanent deacons, eight for the archdiocese of Dublin. He also ordained one priest, which was significant too as the number of vocations to the priesthood has declined drastically in the country, from 409 in 1964 to a mere 6 in 2011. In 1932 there were 10 seminaries, today there are 3, including the one in Rome

At the same time, however, as an Irish Times survey taken on the eve of the Congress has shown, notwithstanding the terrible impact of the sex-abuse of children by clergy scandal and the onward advance of secularization in the Irish Republic (where 84% of the people define themselves as Catholic), some 31% of people attend mass weekly, another 8% do so every two weeks, while a further 20% attend at least every three months, and many more go once a year or more.  This rate of Church attendance is higher than in most other European countries, and offers the basis for hope of renewal in the Irish Church in the years ahead.

This 50th Eucharistic Congress is being held against such a background, and in the midst of a harsh economic crisis that has hit the island very hard.  The Congress will conclude on Sunday, June 17.

How Catholic Church is no longer centre stage in Ireland

Springsteen is more popular than Jesus. The Italian-Irish troubadour from New Jersey who still comes on with bags of cred after more than 30 years on the road has sold out two shows at Dublin's RDS arena next month.

Some of the reasons for the poor turnout are obvious. The credibility of the Church has taken a hammering from the exposure of the extent of its cover-up of the crime spree against children.
The general secularisation of Irish society. The fact that Séan Brady is no match for Peter Aiken when it comes to promoting a gig. The football in Poznan.

Even so. This was no mere Rosary rally but a gathering-in of the Catholic faithful of Ireland to bear witness to the core belief and defining doctrine of the Church, the Real Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist. And they didn't pack the pews.

Pope Benedict: Church shaken 'in appalling way'

Irish Examiner
Sunday, June 17, 2012
Pope Benedict has said the Catholic Church had been shaken "in an appalling way" by the revelation of sins committed by clergy members "against people entrusted to their care".
The pontiff made the remarks in a recorded address to the thousands of people at the final Mass of the 50th International Eucharistic Congress in Dublin.
He said Ireland had been shaped for centuries by a Church that has been a mighty force for good in the world, but he added that its credibility had been undermined.

Abuse in Church 'a mystery' - Pope

The Irish Times
Pope Benedict XVI has said it "remains a mystery" that people who regularly "received the Lord’s body and confessed their sins" had committed the offence of child abuse.
In a pre-recorded address to the closing ceremony of the 50th International Eucharistic Congress, which came to an end at Croke Park in Dublin today, the pope said the Church had "been shaken in an appalling way by the revelation of sins committed by priests and consecrated persons against people entrusted to their care".
"Instead of showing them the path towards Christ, towards God, instead of bearing witness to his goodness, they abused people and undermined the credibility of the Church’s message," he said.
The pope said "much still remains to be done on the path of real liturgical renewal".

Sex abuse undermined church: Pope

Belfast Telegraph
Sunday, 17 June 2012
Paedophile priests who abused those in their care undermined the credibility of the Catholic Church, Pope Benedict XVI has said.
In a pre-recorded address to almost 80,000 pilgrims in Dublin, the pontiff said the legacy of Irish Catholicism has been shaken by the clerical sexual abuse of children, adding it remained a mystery how clergy could commit such sins.

The Pope told the congregation attending the closing Mass of the 50th International Eucharistic Congress their forebears in the church in Ireland knew how to strive for holiness and constancy in their personal lives, and how to preach the joy that comes from the Gospel.

"Thankfulness and joy at such a great history of faith and love have recently been shaken in an appalling way by the revelation of sins committed by priests and consecrated persons against people entrusted to their care," said Pope Benedict in an eight-minute recorded message to the crowd, which included Taoiseach Enda Kenny and Irish President Michael D Higgins.

Pope to Irish: Child abuse by clergy shook Catholic faith; calls motive a mystery
By Associated Press, Updated: Sunday, June 17

VATICAN CITY — Pope Benedict XVI told Irish Catholics on Sunday it is a mystery why priests and other clergy abused children entrusted in their care, undermining faith in the church in an “appalling” way.
By calling the cause of the abuse — often over a period of decades — in Catholic parishes, schools and church-run institutions and parishes in predominantly Catholic Ireland a “mystery,” the pontiff could further anger rank-and-file faithful in Ireland.

Benedict commented on the scandals of sexual abuse and cover-ups by church hierarchy in a pre-recorded video message for the closing session of a week-long gathering in Dublin aimed at shoring up flagging faith, including obligatory Mass attendance.

Fr Lawrence Flynn from the Diocese of Clogher expressed delight that the stone of Wicklow granite, which is inscribed with a survivor's prayer, would be moved to the Lough Derg after the Congress ends on Sunday.
He said while the stone needs to be accessible, it should be housed in a reflective and contemplative space.
The stone will go to Station Island initially before a decision is made on its permanent location.
Yesterday, Primate of All Ireland and Archbishop of Armagh Seán Brady said he hoped the stone might become a symbol of conversion, healing and hope and of a Church that has learned from the mistakes of the past.
Large crowds gathered in the main arena at the RDS in Dublin today for the The Eucharist with the Sacrament of Anointing, which was presided over by Latin Patriarch of Jersualem, Patriarch Fouad Twal.
Chaldean Archbishop of Erbil in Iraq, Bahsar Warda, gave the catechesis.
There was also a live telecast of the annual global rosary relay for priests, led by Marion Mulhall.
Founder of Meeting Point International in Uganda, Rose Busingye, gave a personal testimony.

Pope Benedict XVI chalks up abuse of children to 'mystery'

New Jersey Newsroom

Pope Benedict XVI added a new mystery to the Catholic faith last Sunday.

Speaking about the abuse of children by priests and other religious figures, the Pontiff said, “How are we to explain the fact that people who regularly received the Lord’s body and confessed their sins in the Sacrament of Penance have offended in this way? It remains a mystery.”

The papal comments were made in a recorded TV address delivered at the close of an outdoor Mass attended by 75,000 Catholics, many from overseas, in Ireland's largest sports stadium. Ireland's prime minister and president attended the Mass, the final event of a Eucharistic Congress aimed at shoring up flagging faith.

Not everyone agreed with the Pope.

"The pontiff's wrong: there's little mystery here," said Barbara Dorris in an emailed statement reported by the Associated Press.
